Hornets take on tournament play

The Hooks Hornets and the Lady Hornets both competed in Idabel tournament action over the holiday break. The boys finished 2-1 and capped it off with a 65-37 win over New Boston in the consolation final. Landon Hamilton scored 26 points and Jatavious Johnson chipped in 14. Hamilton also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team for his play.

Dragons battle in district

Last week the Redwater Lady Dragons traveled to New Boston to open district play. The JV Lady Dragons were in a battle for the first two and a half quarters and eventually conceded to the Lady Lions by a score of 219. The JV Lady Dragons were led by Lainey Robinson with 4 pts. Abby Shirron added 3 pts, and Autum Berry had 2. Things didn’t start as well for the Varsity Lady Dragons. They found themselves down 27-5 after a first quarter shooting clinic by the Lady Lions. From there they never looked back and led 37-10 at the half and would go on to win 73-25. The Lady Dragons were led offensively by Avery Waldrop with 9 pts and Karley Latham with 6 pts. Mattie Campbell added 3 pts. Isabel Turner, Kaylee Calicott, and Krysta Page each had 2 pts and Leila Tilbury shot 1 of 2 from the charity stripe.
