Lions edge Marshall, Hooks wins in a blowout
In boy’s baseball action on Tuesday, the New Boston Lions edged Marshall 3-2 as Caden Glass came up with the clutch, three RBI hit in the top of the 4th inning to propel the Lions back from a 2-0 deficit and the win.
On the mound, Southern Illinois commit Brian Reid went the distance for New Boston, striking out 10 in seven innings of work.
The Lions will be back in action on Thursday in Harmony at 5 p.m. against the tournament host. On Friday the Lions will challenge Troup and Union Grove in the Harmony tournament action.
The Hooks Hornets scored 14 times in four innings to blowout Chapel Hill 14-2.
Matthew Hays struck out a pair and earned the win on the hill for Hooks, allowing just one hit in three innings of work. At the plate, Jake Ledford, Gage Campbell and Ty Thomerson each had a pair of runs batted in to fuel the Hornets’ scoring.
On Thursday at the Chisum Tournament in Paris, the Hornets will face the host Mustangs in a 12 noon start, and then take the field again at 2 p.m. to go up against the Leopards of Liberty-Eylau. Hooks will be back in tournament action on Friday to face Mineola at 4 p.m.
