Lady Lions pounce again, Hooks upsets Redwater

The New Boston Lady Lions kept their season record perfect last night as they caged the Atlanta Lady Rabbs 11-0 in five innings. The Lady LIons also moved up a notch to #7 in the statewide softball polls this week.

It was homerun night again for New Boston as two Lady Lions hit round trippers. Alayasia Henderson hit her second homerun of the year in the 3rd inning, a three run blast, and Lauren Hurst added an inside the park homerun in the 4th. Henderson and Hurst ended the game with three RBI’s apiece to lead the Lady Lion offensive effort.

The district’s hottest hitter, New Boston’s Carlee Ratcliff, was walked all three trips to the plate by Atlanta.

Morgan McAlexander benefitted from the offensive onslaught earning another win on the mound.

The Hooks Lady Hornets scored three runs in the bottom of the 6th to come back and surprise the Redwater Lady Dragons 4-3 Tuesday night

Sidney Duncan singled in the winning run for the Lady Hornets.

Lexie Frachiseur earned the win on the hill for Hooks allowing three runs on six hits in a complete game of work. Bethanee Calicott took a rare loss as she allowed four runs on six hits and struck out seven.

At the plate, Frachiseur and Chloe Hanes had multi-hit performances for Hooks. For the Lady Dragons, Kendall Missildine was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Mallory Brown went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs batted in.

In 2-A softball action, the Avery Lady Bulldogs pounded the Maud Lady Cardinals 17-6 on Tuesday, in a high offense game that saw 12 hits by the Lady Cards and 13 from Avery.

It was the Lady Bulldogs that put the numbers up as they added to their run totals in every inning. They scored five runs in the second with RBI hits from Jaycee Clark, Carley Westbrook and Megan Watson.

On the night, Westbrook and AShten Simington racked up the big numbers with three RBI’s each.
