Lady Lions and Lady Hornets win

The New Boston Lady Lions notched another big win Tuesday night, as they toppled a tough Chapel Hill squad by a final score of 28-26, 25-13, 25-16.

In Game One, the two squads traded points and were neck and neck before New Boston surged ahead at the end to get the win.

The Lady Lions capitalized on that momentum in Game Two, as the jumped out early and led early at 11-5, and then cruised on home to the 25-13 win.

The final set of the set was much the same, as the Lady Lions raced out to a 12-6 lead and coasted to the finish line.

Haley McAlexander paced the Lady Lions with 10 points from the service stripe, joined by 14 assists by Grace Duffer and 18 digs by Carlee Ratcliff.

At the net, Lauren Hurst blasted seven kills and Carleigh Reeves had four kills and three blocks.

Both JV squads also brought home wins for New Boston, as JV2 won 25-19, 25-19 with Lakeyvia Hunt serving up 14 points. JV won took their match 25-18, 25-16 with Victoria Burns leading the way with 13 points.

New Boston Lady Lions will play Pleasant Grove at home on 8/16 starting with Varsity at 4:30 followed by JV1, JV2.


The Hooks Lady Hornets traveled Liberty-Eylau Tuesday night, and caged the Lady Leopards by a final score of 25-20, 20-25, 19-25, 29-27, 15-9.

Senior Abby Russ led the charge for the Lady Hornets, ending the matchup with 12 points from the service line to go along with nine kills and five blocks.

Emma Farquhar came up huge at the net for Hooks with 26 kills.

The JV squad from Hooks came from behind to also win their match with L-E by a score of 19-25, 25-20, 25-12.


Out in Maud, the Lady Cardinals and Coach Brandy Crawford jumped out to an early lead, winning the first set 25-20, but then lost the next three to lose their match with visiting Fruitvale.

The leading server for the Lady Cardinals was Jadyn Sanders, and also on the stat sheet were Brynn Sultz with nine kills and a block, and Haley Yates with 13 assists.
