Donation from Heritage Home Health & Hospice funds certified nurse aide scholarships at Texarkana College

Representatives of Heritage Home Health & Hospice presented a $2,000 donation to Texarkana College Foundation to support TC’s Certified Nurse Aide program in memory of former employees, Shirlena Hanes and Theresa Hawkins, who both recently passed away. Both Hanes and Hawkins were long-time CNAs with Heritage who made significant impacts on the culture of the company and helped build the foundation of hospice services offered through Heritage. The ceremony, held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, was attended by family and friends of the honorees along with TC faculty and staff, and members of the Heritage Home Health & Hospice team.

Voters in Bowie County may soon be able to vote at any polling location on Election Day

The Bowie County Commissioners along with the Elections Administrator have requested the implementation of Countywide Vote Centers which will allow registered voters to vote at any Voting Location. The court voted on Monday, July 11, 2022, to approve a resolution petitioning the Texas Secretary of State to allow Bowie County to participate in the program in the November 8, 2022, Gubernatorial Election.

Ace of Clubs Painting on the Lawn

The Texarkana Museums System will be hosting a Painting on the Lawn event this month. Guest Artist, Richard Cramer, will be instructing a red, white and blue themed Shoe and Hat painting for the public to recreate and take home. The event will be July 16, 2022 and starts at 5:30 pm on the lawn at the Ace of Clubs House.

TxDOT seeks public input on State’s 10-year transportation plan

TxDOT is seeking public input on the draft 2023 Unified Transportation Program (UTP), the state’s 10-year transportation plan. The UTP guides the development of projects around Texas to improve safety, address congestion and connectivity, and preserve roadways for Texas drivers. In addition to highway projects, the UTP addresses public transportation, maritime, aviation, rail, freight and international trade, and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity.
