The New Boston Chamber of Commerce hosted a pair of ribbon cuttings in the last week, first for the Grand Opening of the new Love’s Travel Center, located at the junction of Hwy. 82 and Interstate 30 in New Boston.
De Kalb was recently one of 54 economic development organizations recognized across the state out of over 1200 potential candidates. “I have been a part of the De Kalb EDC board for over 10 years and have been on a team trying to bring jobs and betterment to the community. With the current EDC Board members, City Officials and our EDC Director we have been able to accomplish more in the last 18 months than in the previous 10 years combined. With all of our current and upcoming projects, we are excited at what the future holds for our community. I am proud to be a part of this team that continues to make De Kalb and the surrounding area a great place to call home.”, said Aaron Calvit, President of the De Kalb Economic Development Corporation.
On Wednesday March, 22nd De Kalb ISD announced in a press release the resignation of superintendent Chirstopher Galloway, Phd.
This year’s annual East Texas Giving Day is just around the corner on April 25 from 6 a.m. to midnight, CST. But donations may be made as early as April 3 this year. The purpose of and area- wide East Texas Giving Day is to bring the area together on one day and as one community in an effort to raise money and support for East Texas nonprofits. East Texas Communities Foundation (ETCF) began this effort and provides an easy platform for people to make donations online.
Now that we’ve put winter behind us — at least on the calendar — it’s time for us to think about sprucing up our homes, inside and out. But it also may be time to do some financial spring cleaning.
