Verlene Burns

Verlene L. Burns, age 87 of New Boston, Texas passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 in a local nursing facility.  Mrs. Burns was born June 30, 1929 in Bowie County Texas.  She was a homemaker, member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church and is preceded in death by a daughter, Melba O. Burns Buse and a son, Homer A. Burns.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Homer L. Burns of New Boston Texas, two daughters, Janet  Haggard of New Boston, Texas and Lisa Burns White of Texarkana, Texas, one sister, Janie Hartsell of  Houston, Texas one brother, James Burns of New Boston, Texas,  6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Graveside Funeral services will be at10:00 A.M., Friday, March 31, 2017 in Pulaski Cemetery, New Boston with Bro. Steve Minter officiating.  Interment will follow in Pulaski Cemetery under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home.  There is no set visitation.

Dale Hill

Dale Hill of Celina, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at a Frisco, Texas hospital. He was 59.

Dale was born December 29, 1957 to Billy Howell and Bette "Honey" Doss Hill. On November 2, 1990, he was married to Carlotta Lee in Paris, Texas. Dale worked for Encore Wire in McKinney, Texas and was of the Christian Faith.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bette "Honey" Hill; and a sister, Teresa Maxine Haskamp.

Jay R. Hutson

Jay R. Hutson, of De Kalb, Texas passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at a Mt. Pleasant, Texas hospital. He was 85.

Jay R. was born March 14, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, to Cecil and Thelma Loy Springer Hutson. On September 8, 1950, he was married to Emma Jo Tuttel in Dallas, Texas. He was a former Pipeline Welder in the Gas and Oil Industry and a member of the United Pipefitters Union, Local 777.

Jackie Easter

Jackie Lee Easter, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at a local hospital. He was 59.

Jackie was born February 16, 1958, in Quanah, Texas, to Troy and Lula Pearl Jones Easter. He was a former Warehouseman and Truck Driver with Weyerhaeuser and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Harry Easter and Larry Easter.

James Dale Splawn

James Dale J.D. Splawn, age 80 of Texarkana Texas passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 in a local hospital.   Mr. Splawn was born June 13, 1936 in Bakersfield, California.  He was retired from Lone Star Steel Company, a self employed auto machinist and a Christian.   

Survivors include his wife, Lela Splawn of Texarkana, Texas, seven sons, James D. Splawn of Newark, Texas, Keith Splawn of Denton, Texas, Steven Splawn of Atlanta, Texas, Ronald Jones of Hope, Arkansas, Wallace Coker of Texarkana, Texas, Roger Coker of Texarkana, Texas Jerry Freeman of Texarkana, Texas, four daughters, Nita Collier of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Rita Moors of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Louise McBride of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Angela Buckley of Texarkana, Arkansas,   25 grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Kenneth Wayne Bovee

Kenneth Wayne Bovee, age 69 of Hooks, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Bovee was born July 14, 1947 in Hazen, Arkansas.  He was Self Employed Truck Driver, a United States Army and Vietnam Veteran, a Purple Heart Recipient and is preceded in death by his wives, Pat Beard and Jan Bovee, a daughter Chrissy Bovee and a son Frankie Bovee and his parents, Meredith and Katherine Bovea

Survivors include three sons and two daughters in law, Kenneth Bovee of El Dorado, Arkansas, Waylon and Terra Bovee of El Dorado, Arkansas, Brandon and Jessica Bovee of Nixa, Missouri, three daughters  and one son in law, Tina White of Biscoe, Arkansas, Tammy Smith of DeValls Bluff, Arkansas, Michelle and Darrell Marbut of Hooks, Texas, one sister, Barbara Moody of Little Rock, Arkansas, one brother, Patrick Bovea of Dallas, Texas, 11 grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Morene Dubose, of De Kalb, Texas passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at a Texarkana, Texas care facility. She was 92.

Morene was born January 12, 1925 to Edgar and Aubie Payne English. She was retired from Texas Instruments, where she worked in Sales and Accounting for many years.

Vera Oleta Willeford

Vera Oleta Willeford, age 56 of New Boston, Texas passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in a local hospital.  Mrs. Willeford was born April 12, 1960 in Elk, Oklahoma.  She was a Baptist, Homemaker and is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Warren, a Brother, William Warren, sister, Tressie Barker and two grandchildren, Angel and Thomas.

Survivors include her husband, Charles, two daughters, Tara of New Boston, Texas and Dorothy of Maud, Texas, one sister,  Brenda of Texarkana, Texas and 8 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held  2:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, 2017 in the Bates Rolf Chapel, New Boston with Rev. Augustine Alaniz officiating.    Interment will be in Old Union Cemetery, Simms, Texas under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home.   Visitation will be Thursday, March 16 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Jeffrey Wade Lampert

Mr. Jeffrey Wade Lampert, 61, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Christus-Highland Medical Center after a brief illness. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, at Broadmoor United Methodist Church with Dr. Greg Davis officiating.

Jeff was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of DeKalb, TX for eight years and Shreveport for the past two years.

Toby White

Edward Leo (Toby) White, 94, of Maud, Texas passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. White was born June 24, 1922 in Maud, Texas to L.L and Sally D. White. He was a graduate from Maud High School Class of 1941,  retired from Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, Lifetime member of Maud United Methodist Church and  was preceded in death by his wife  of 70 years, Billie Bob.  They once owned the White Squirrel Café in Maud and were also the proprietors of the Magnolia (Mobil) gas station in Maud.
