The James Bowie Pirates are the Regional Quarterfinal champions following their two game sweep of Union Grove over the weekend.
The Pirates first crushed the Lions 9-3 in Game One on the strength of a six run barrage in the 4th inning that was capped by a two run single off the bat of Dalton McBride.
Bailey Obenoskey earned the win from the hill in the game, tossing seven innings allowing three runs, nine hits and striking out six.
At the plate, Logan Graham was 2-2 with an RBI, and McBride, Obenoskey, Caige Croley, Mason Plunk and Evan Barron also had RBI hits in the contest.
In Game Two, the Pirates won 3-1 with a late game comeback clinching the series.
Caige Croley doubled in the 5th inning to knot the game at 1-1 and Logan Graham earned a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 6th to score what would be the game winner.
Evan Barron notched the win from the mound, giving up just one run on two hits while striking out six in a complete game of work.
The Pirates will next face the Groveton Indians. That best of three series will begin on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Longview High School.
Game Two is scheduled for noon on Saturday, also at Longview, and Game Three will follow if needed.
