Lady Lions win two on Thursday in Classic

The Lady Lions ended their day 2-0 on the first day of the McDonald’s Classic, closing out play Thursday night with a 7-2 win over Fouke.
The game was scoreless going into the bottom of the 4th when the Lady Lions notched a pair of runs and then ripped Fouke for four more in the bottom of the 5th to blow the game open.
The New Boston bats ripped the Fouke pitchers for 11 hits, with Madison Thomas going 3-3 and Morgan McAlexander going 2-3 with a pair of RBI’s.
Alayasia Henderson got a big hit in the fourth and drove in three RBI’s in the game and Emily McAlexander was 2-4 with a run batted in.
In baseball action on Thursday at the Classic, the James Bowie Pirates battled back to knot the score at 3-3, but went on to lose to Overton by a final of 5-3.
Evan Barron took the loss on the hill for James Bowie, allowing eight hits and five earned runs while striking out nine.
At the plate, the Pirates out hit Overton 10-8, with Caige Croley, Bailey Obenoskey and Barron having multi-hit efforts. Crowley, Obenoskey and Branson Wilson had an RBI each in the contest.
The Pirates return to action this morning with their game scheduled for 11 a.m. versus Paul Pewitt.
