Pair arrested on possession of meth

According to a release just issued by the Bowie County Sheriff's Office, On Thursday,  February 9, 2017 Bowie County Sheriff’s Office Captain Robby McCarver received information that Jason Mathew Weaver and Alicia Kaye Braley were in possession of a large amount of methamphetamine. The pair were said to be traveling in a gray 2000 Toyota Camry with an Arkansas license plate and headed to the 5000 block of Eylau Loop Road.

Deputy Chad Ford, who is familiar with Mr. Weaver, set up in a location to intercept the couple. A short time later, Deputy Ford observed this vehicle pass him with Mr. Weaver driving it. Deputy Ford conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with Mr. Weaver. While speaking with Mr. Weaver, Deputy Ford noticed that he was visibly nervous and that Ms. Braley kept adjusting the closure of her purse which she was tightly clutching in her lap.

A search was conducted of the vehicle Mr. Weaver was driving, but nothing illegal was located inside of it. Next deputies conducted a search of Ms. Braley’s handbag. During this search deputies located 74 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine. Both Mr. Weaver and Ms. Braley were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance Over Four Grams and Under 200 Grams. They were then transported to the Bi-State Jail where they were booked in.

The following morning Judge Nancy Talley set bond for both of these individuals at $75,000.00 apiece.
